Xinhua News Agency, Beijing, October 20 (Reporter Xu Zhuang) The reporter learned from the State Administration of Cultural Heritage that my country’s Long March cultural relic resources have been basically understood. There are more than 2,100 immovable cultural relics with the theme of the Long March across the country, and the fourth national cultural relic census has newly discovered 63 Long March relics. Most of the Long March-themed memorial facilities include memorial halls, monuments, martyrs' tombs, and cemeteries. Among them, there are 74 Long March memorial halls, 21 national-level martyrs' memorial facilities, 11 provincial-level martyrs' memorial facilities, and 182 memorial facilities that have been approved and announced as cultural relics protection units. There are nearly 40,000 pieces/set of Long March-themed movable cultural relics, including more than 4,400 pieces/set of precious cultural relics; the types of cultural relics are mainly practical utensils, weapons and equipment (including military items), literature archives, and books, periodicals, and leaflets.
The overall protection of Long March cultural relics has achieved new results. During the "14th Five-Year Plan" period, a total of 55 Long March heritage protection and display projects were implemented, and Long March cultural relics protection and display projects such as the former site of the Second Red Army's Long March Headquarters and the former site of the Bangluo Town Meeting were completed. The renovation project of the Zunyi Conference site was completed and fully opened to the public, and the protection and exhibition project of the Sidu Chishui Battle site was progressed in an orderly manner.
Display quality has reached a new level. The opening rate of the Long March-themed national key cultural relics protection units is 92%. The Propaganda Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, the Central Cyberspace Administration of China, the Ministry of Veterans Affairs, and the State Administration of Cultural Heritage jointly organized the Long March Cultural Relics Protection and Exhibition themed season and jointly released a list of themed exhibitions to commemorate the 90th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese Workers’ and Peasants’ Red Army’s Long March. "The Great Expedition - Theme Exhibition to Commemorate the 90th Anniversary of the Victory of the Chinese Workers' and Peasants' Red Army's Long March", the Chinese Workers' and Peasants' Red Army's Long March Archives Exhibition, and the Special Exhibition of Snow Mountain and Grassland Cultural Relics were opened one after another.
To better play the role of soul-casting and educating people, 40 Long March sites and Long March Memorial Halls were named national patriotism education demonstration bases, and 6 Long March Memorial Halls were included in the "Big Ideological and Political Course" practical teaching base.
According to reports, in the 15th Five-Year Plan, the State Administration of Cultural Heritage will adhere to the priority of protection and inheritance, strengthen systematic protection; deepen value exploration and create high-quality exhibitions; continue to tell the story of the Long March and vigorously promote the spirit of the great Long March. Taking the implementation of contiguous protection of Long March cultural relics as the key starting point, we will coordinate and promote the level of systematic protection of Long March cultural relics. Relying on the Long March cultural relics and memorial venues, we will build a number of revolutionary traditional education, patriotism education, youth ideological and moral education, and national defense education bases with distinctive themes and characteristics. Combined with the overall display project of Long March cultural relics, the signage guide and smart explanation system of Long March themed cultural relics protection units, memorial halls and other commemorative facilities will be unified and standardized to enhance the overall recognition of the Long March themed cultural routes.
