Iran conveys terms to US for resumption of diplomacy through special envoy

Iran, through the special envoy of the US President, conveyed the conditions for the resumption of the diplomatic process between Tehran and Washington.

Iran's demands include lifting the naval blockade, an end to US aggression and "economic terrorism", the release of frozen Iranian assets and recognition of the Strait of Hormuz security route agreed with Oman.

The secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council said that there will be no negotiations with the United States until they fulfill Tehran's conditions.

TEHRAN, September 23 - RIA Novosti. Iran explained to the United States the conditions for resuming the diplomatic process between Tehran and Washington, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Ismail Baghai said.

Earlier, the Iranian Foreign Ministry reported that representatives of the country had contact with the American side on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York through Qatar. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi on Tuesday conveyed to US Presidential Special Envoy Steve Witkoff the terms regarding the Strait of Hormuz.

“During the process (interaction with US representatives - ed.), which lasted about two hours, the American side was given the conditions for resuming diplomacy in a form that would leave no doubts or ambiguities,” he wrote on the social network X.

He noted that the demands include the lifting of the naval blockade, an end to US aggression against Iran and “economic terrorism,” an end to the war “on all fronts,” the release of frozen Iranian assets, and recognition of the safe route agreed between Iran and Oman in the Strait of Hormuz.

Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council Mohsen Rezaei said that until the United States fulfills Tehran's conditions, there will be no negotiations with them.

On February 28, the United States and Israel began striking targets in Iran, to which the Iranian side responded with its own strikes. In mid-June, Tehran and Washington signed a memorandum to cease hostilities, but later exchanged blows again. At the moment, the conflict remains unresolved.
