The Russian Foreign Ministry noted that Russia and the United States have significant potential for developing cooperation within the UN, which has not yet been revealed.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio will also discuss interaction between Russia and the United States at the UN at a meeting of the heads of foreign affairs departments of the two countries in New York, the Russian Foreign Ministry reported.

Earlier, the official representative of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Maria Zakharova, told RIA Novosti that a meeting between Lavrov and Rubio on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly is being worked out.

“During the upcoming meeting between Sergei Lavrov and Marco Rubio, issues of interaction between the two countries at the platform of the world organization (UN - ed.) will also be discussed,” the Russian Foreign Ministry told Izvestia.

The Russian department noted that Russia and the United States, permanent members of the UN Security Council, have enormous potential for developing cooperation. However, it has hardly been disclosed, the Foreign Ministry added.
