A lecture on the spirit of scientists that directly touched the soul made the spiritual background of "patriotism, democracy, and science" of Jiusan Society more vivid. On June 12, the Jiusan Wangxuan Care Foundation, the magazine "Democracy and Science", and the Qingdao Municipal Committee of the Jiusan Society jointly held a public welfare lecture on the spirit of scientists in the multi-functional hall on the fifth floor of the Qingdao Democratic Party Organization. Cong Zhongxiao, associate researcher at the Wang Xuan Computer Institute of Peking University and director of the Wang Xuan Memorial Office, gave a special lecture on "The Most Beautiful Struggler to Serve the Country Scientifically - "Contemporary Bi Sheng" Wang Xuan". More than 120 people, including representatives from democratic parties and heads of social and municipal committees at all levels, participated. This event is not only a solid action by the Social and Municipal Committee to deepen the education on the theme of "participating in politics for the public and doing things for the people", but also a concrete practice to promote the implementation of social history publicity and education.
For a long time, the Qingdao Municipal Committee of the Jiusan Society has insisted on integrating social history learning throughout the entire process of thematic education, closely following the four "focuses" to coordinate efforts, and continues to promote the normalization, positioning, and brand development of social history learning and education.
Pay attention to cultivating talents and building a strong professional research team. The Social and Municipal Committee continues to identify and attract members with high political literacy and strong professional capabilities to devote themselves to social history research and build a team of talents. In 2017, the Social History Research Office was established; in 2019, the first social history research center of the National Jiusan Organization at the prefectural and municipal levels was established. There are currently 29 researchers and 1 consultant, including 2 researchers from the Social History Research Center of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China. The center holds summary meetings and seminars every year, conducts regular business training, formulates research plans and topic selections, and systematically carries out work such as collection of historical materials, compilation of classics, collation of oral histories, and excavation of deeds of sages.
Pay attention to the compilation of historical materials and lay a solid foundation for research work. In social history research work, we implement the "three approaches" model and collect and sort out historical materials in an all-round way. The first is to enter the archives. More than 23,000 relevant files were collected to create the "Jiusan Society History Archives Reference System", and the information of 235 early members was compiled into an information table. The second is to visit members’ homes. The Joint Special Committee on Aging carried out oral history collection in conjunction with visits and retained precious oral history materials from more than ten old members and their families. The third is to enter grassroots organizations. Guide grassroots organizations to standardize the management of documents and files, arrange for dedicated personnel to record social activities, member performance and scientific research results, and achieve standardization of historical file retention.
Focus on creating high-quality products and producing high-quality research results. The municipal committee of the society has established an assessment system and reward funds to fully mobilize the enthusiasm of members to participate in the compilation of social history and subject research, and strive to create high-quality results. He has successively compiled and completed historical documents such as "Jiusan Society Qingdao Local Organization Chronicle Materials", "Jiusan Society Qingdao Grassroots Organization Organization History" and other historical documents; 8 articles on social history research and deeds of sages were published in "Democracy and Science" of the Central Committee of the Society; "Qingdao City" "A Review of the Development of Early Member Groups and Organizations on the Island" won the first prize for outstanding achievements in social history research by the Central Committee of the Society, and won the bid for the compilation of four sages' biographies "The Biography of Xu Zuoxia", "The Biography of Zheng Hesheng", "The Biography of Chu Da Gao" and "The Biography of Liu Ruiyu" by the Central Committee of the Society; 10 An oral history project won the bid for the Provincial Committee of the Society, and 33 biographies were selected into the "Jiusan Society Shandong Sages".
Pay attention to the publicity and education of social history and practice the concept of educating people with history. The Social and Municipal Committee continues to innovate publicity vehicles and conduct social history education online and offline. A professional preaching team of 20 people was established, and online micro-lecture videos were launched to broaden learning channels; based on the deeds of sages such as Xu Deheng, Deng Jiaxian, Wang Fengting and other sages, we arranged themed sitcoms and composed theme songs to use art forms to enhance learning appeal. Relying on resource advantages, a patriotic education base has been established at the Institute of Oceanology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and multiple professional venues of Qingdao University have been used to create unique medical-themed study routes and create immersive learning scenarios. At present, more than 40 publicity courses have been compiled, social history education has been included as a required course for the training of new members, and more than 30 publicity activities are carried out in grassroots organizations every year, effectively promoting the study and education of social history to be in-depth and practical.
