About 10 million subscribers have gained access to 5G.

The rollout of 5G is especially important for large cities due to the growth of mobile Internet traffic more than three times in six years.

MOSCOW, September 11 - RIA Novosti. The Big Four telecom operators have launched 5G in 16 cities of Russia, 10 million subscribers have already received access, the Ministry of Digital Development said.

“At the first stage, 5G services began operating in 16 cities, and about 10 million people received access to high-speed fifth-generation mobile Internet. Services based on 5G will be provided by the Big Four operators,” the department reported.

It is noted that the heads of Megafon Khachatur Pombukhchan, Beeline Sergey Anokhin, T2 Anton Godovikov and MTS Inessa Galaktionova took part in the launch of 5G at sites in Tver, Samara, Yekaterinburg and Novosibirsk.

The department added that the volume of mobile Internet traffic has more than tripled in six years, so the deployment of 5G is especially important for large cities.

Thus, in Moscow, St. Petersburg and Yekaterinburg, all four operators launched 5G, in Novosibirsk and Kazan - Megafon and MTS, in Samara - Beeline and Megafon, in Veliky Novgorod, Krasnodar, Nizhny Novgorod and Tver - Megafon. Also, a new network was launched in Volgograd, Krasnoyarsk, Perm and Chelyabinsk T2, in Ufa - MTS, and in Yaroslavl - Beeline.
