New universal car box used on China-Europe freight trains on a large scale for the first time

China News Service, Chongqing, June 22 (Zhang Xu) With a whistle, train X8013 successfully departed from Chongqing Tuanjie Village Central Station on the 22nd and will pass through Alashankou Port and finally arrive at Volsino Station in Russia.

This trip marks the first large-scale use of the 40-foot 35-ton universal car box in the China-Europe freight train transportation scenario. The train uses 55 new general-purpose car boxes of this type, carrying 182 Changan's own brand passenger cars on the outbound journey, and will carry various types of cargo adapted to this box type on the return journey.

According to China Railway Container Transport Co., Ltd., the 40-foot 35-ton universal car box is the company’s latest equipment developed and is mainly used for export transportation of domestic passenger cars. It has the advantages of larger single-box loading capacity and stronger return cargo carrying capacity.

The internal volume of this box is 84.3 cubic meters. Compared with the traditional 40-foot universal standard box, the height is increased by 234 mm. A single box can load 4 cars or 3 SUVs, one more vehicle than a standard box, and can meet the transportation needs of most types of passenger vehicles on the market.

According to reports, after this new box type is put into use, it will effectively reduce the transportation cost of a single vehicle. At the same time, after the internal frame of the box is disassembled, it can be used as a general container to transport various types of suitable cargo, reducing the resource loss caused by empty container transportation, fully releasing transportation efficiency, and maximizing the utilization of transportation capacity.
