在广东一家工厂,黄新生第一次遇到了鼓励工人写诗的老板。厂里办了黑板报和读书角,成功投稿一首诗还给五块钱,钱虽不多,却给了她一个出口。“心里有很多说不清道不明的忧愁,刚好借诗写出来。”黄新生说。此后,写作便成了她的“自留地”,日子再难,也没放下这支笔。
2011年,丈夫在工地意外身亡,留下16岁的大儿子和刚满3岁的小儿子,生活的重担全部压在她一个人肩上。为照顾孩子,黄新生回到长沙,成为一名环卫工人。安顿好后,她在湖南图书馆办了一张借阅证。阅读与写作,成了她对抗生活重压的精神出口。

48岁的张海秀正是其中一员。她回忆,下岗后做了十几年家庭主妇,与社会脱节的焦虑压得她喘不过气来。如今,她坚持每天读书一小时,还在读书会上学到了经营家庭、教养子女的经验。“书读多了,心就宽了,以前扫的街道都变得明亮美丽了。”张海秀说。
