Northrup Grumman unmanned aerial vehicle 'Talon Blue' successfully achieves first fully autonomous flight

(Seoul = Yonhap News) Global defense company Northrop Grumman's unmanned aerial vehicle 'Talon Blue' succeeded in fully autonomous flight for the first time.

In a test flight conducted in Mojave, California, USA on the 3rd (local time), the YFQ-48A Talon Blue performed the entire process completely autonomously, from taxiing and takeoff, flight, maneuver, and landing.

Talon Blue is a Collaborative Combat Aircraft (CCA) developed to perform in teams with manned fighter aircraft such as the F-22 and F-35.

Talon Blue is expected to compete with unmanned aerial vehicles such as Anduril's YFQ-44 and General Atomics' YFQ-42 in the U.S. Air Force's Phase 2 CCA project. Take a look at the video.
