Annalena Berbock announced her retirement from public life after working at the UN

Former German Foreign Minister Annalena Bärbock announced her decision to completely retire from public life and become a private citizen after completing her work at the UN.

Burbock's term as chairman of the current session of the UN General Assembly expires on September 8, and she will be replaced by Bangladeshi Foreign Minister Khalilur Rahman. The Table.Briefings portal previously reported that after the end of his term at the UN, Burbock will become a professor at Columbia University in New York.

“For me, this is really, in a sense, the moment when I can say: well, now I’m a private person,” the German newspaper Handelsblatt quoted Baerbock as saying.

Burbock confirmed that she does indeed plan to move to the United States, where she will teach at Columbia University for several years.

In this regard, she admitted that she was “very glad to have the opportunity to finally take a break.”
