The Electoral Authority: A maximum of 500 early votes incorrectly registered

The electoral authority has analyzed erroneously registered early votes and concluded that a maximum of 500 voters are affected. The fact that the people's votes have been wrongly registered and declared invalid depends on a few different things, says Jany Plevnik at the Swedish Electoral Authority.

- It is about the fact that some people have voted early twice, which makes the votes invalid. We can only speculate why some people have voted twice.

In other cases, according to the authority's analysis, it has been due to broken envelopes. The election worker has then replaced the broken envelopes with a new, complete envelope and the votes have then been registered incorrectly.

- The third variant is that the person who has received a vote in some way did not really complete the registration for the previous voter before continuing with the next one. This has resulted in the first voter being credited with two votes, while the second voter has received no vote at all.

Jany Plevnik cannot say how many incorrectly registered votes are due to which error.

The electoral authority cannot identify which persons are affected. Those affected will therefore have to vote once more.

They have previously stated that they will present a list of when and where incorrect votes have been registered. The hope was that this would be ready on Tuesday, but that will not be the case, says Plevnik.

- The analysis is still ongoing, but as soon as there is something to present, it will be published on val.se. The information will then form a list which, as far as I know, shows in which premises it has occurred and exactly when it has happened.
