North Korea warns South Korea will become a 'crucial target of collective retaliation' due to US plans to turn it into a collective defense hub

South Korea, which the United States intends to turn into a “decisive center for collective defense,” will become a “decisive target for collective retaliation.” This is stated in an article by the head of the department of the Institute for the Study of the Affairs of the DPRK's Enemies, Kang Chol Su, published by the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA).

"The Republic of Korea, emerging as a 'decisive center for collective defense' in accordance with US strategic interests, will be a decisive target for collective retaliation," the article notes.

The author of the article connected this with the statement of the commander of American troops in Korea at the “Korea-American International Security Conference.” According to him, the United States intends to fully involve South Korea in an aggressive system of “collective defense” to implement a global hegemonic strategy.

The publication argues that Korea's increased military value means that its entire territory will serve as a key base for waging aggressive wars abroad. Kang Chol Soo also pointed to the country's deployment of MQ-9 Reaper strategic drones, an increase in the number of F-16 fighter jets and plans to deploy a multi-regional rapid reaction force.

“Our Republic, bordering Korea, foresaw such changes in the situation and has already prepared a full-scale response,” the article emphasizes.

Earlier, the DPRK tested a guided projectile for an updated multiple launch rocket system (MLRS) of 240 mm caliber. The 240 mm caliber ammunition can be considered an analogue of the American HIMARS high-precision multiple rocket launcher. It is noted that the missile received a high-precision control system.

The flight range along a ballistic trajectory is 100 kilometers, and the combined flight ensures the destruction of targets at a range of up to 115 kilometers. The publication emphasized that the tests confirmed the accuracy of the ammunition.
