(원주=연합뉴스) 임보연 기자 = 강원 원주시가 정부 예산안에 반영되지 않았거나 일부만 반영된 주요 현안 사업 16건의 내년도 국비 추가 확보에 나섰다.

구자열 시장은 국회를 찾아 이광재 국회 예산결산특별위원회 위원장과 면담하고 주요 현안 사업에 대한 국비 지원을 건의했다고 2일 밝혔다.

구 시장은 정부 예산안에서 빠지거나 감액된 사업 목록을 전달하고 국회 심의 과정에서 필요한 예산을 추가 반영해 달라고 요청했다.

특히 여주∼원주 복선전철 건설을 비롯해 시민 생활과 밀접한 기반 시설 사업이 차질 없이 추진될 수 있도록 협조를 구했다.

이에 앞서 구 시장은 지난달 30일 재정경제부 황순관 국고실장을 만나 원주교도소 부지 활용과 여주∼원주 복선전철 건설 등 지역 현안을 논의했다.

원주교도소 기존 부지에 시민광장과 공원을 조성하는 사업이 원활하게 추진될 수 있도록 정부 차원의 협조도 요청했다.

여주∼원주 복선전철은 당초 2027년도 예산으로 요구한 2천930억원 가운데 감액된 1천30억원의 추가 반영을 건의했다.

시는 국회 예산 심사 과정에서 지역 정치권과 협력하고 상임위원회와 예산결산특별위원회 심사 단계에 맞춰 사업별 대응을 이어갈 계획이다.

구자열 원주시장은 "정부안에 빠지거나 일부만 반영된 사업도 끝까지 필요성을 설명해 국비가 최대한 반영되도록 힘쓰겠다"고 말했다.
