Candidate for Hadong County mayor, fierce battle over solution to population crisis and construction of industrial and living infrastructure

In the Hadong County mayoral election, the ruling and opposition parties clashed over solutions to the population crisis and revitalization of the Galsa and Daesong industrial complexes. Candidate Je Yoon-kyung (Democratic Party of Korea) argues for basic income and the establishment of a renewable energy base, while candidate Kim Hyun-soo (People Power Party) argues for connecting industrial infrastructure and building living infrastructure. The two candidates are unanimously concerned about the reality that the population has fallen below 40,000. My candidate emphasized that he would “introduce a basic income project that provides 150,000 won in local currency every month to all residents” and “turn the Galsa Bay and Daesong Industrial Complex sites into large-scale renewable energy bases.” Candidate Kim said he would “connect the Galsa and Daesong industrial complexes with the industrial infrastructure of nearby local governments, such as Sacheon Aerospace and Gwangyang Steel and Secondary Battery,” and “connect agricultural specialty products through processing, distribution, and experiential tourism.” In the leadership debate, Candidate Kim pointed out the cost issue of Candidate Je's pledge to build a solar power plant. My candidate emphasizes “step-by-step preparation” and “the strength of having ultra-high voltage transmission infrastructure.” Candidate Je criticized Candidate Kim’s failure to evaluate the economic feasibility of his pledge to expand National Route 2 to 4 lanes. Candidate Kim argued for a preliminary retrial by “increasing actual transportation demand.” The two candidates are at loggerheads over the administrative performance and lack of communication of former county governors.
