Jones Cup: UC Irvine defeated Taiwan Blue Team, winning 7 consecutive games to advance to the championship game

The University of California, Irvine, came to Taiwan for the first time in three years. Today, it defeated Taiwan’s blue team 96:71 in the Jones Cup quarterfinals, advancing to the championship game with seven consecutive victories. The team also conducted charity activities and explored Taipei during the off-day. Russell Turner, the head coach of the US team, even revealed that he really likes Taiwan’s night market snack pepper pancakes.

Four members of the U.S. team scored in double figures today, scoring 14 three-pointers. They outrebounded the blue team 54:35, and the score in the penalty area was also 32:18 behind. Turner said after the game that it was an honor to come to Taiwan to participate in the Jones Cup. "I think my team's performance tonight on defense and rebounding showed our respect for this event. This has always been the characteristic of our team. I am very happy that we did this tonight and won the victory."

Turner did not forget to praise the blue team's performance, "After we started well, they showed a high degree of competitiveness.
