Xinhua News Agency, Beijing, October 12th: The 70th anniversary commemoration meeting of the China Overseas Chinese Federation was held in Beijing on October 12th. Wang Huning, member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, attended and delivered a speech, met with all representatives present and took photos with everyone.

Wang Huning said that overseas Chinese affairs work is a long-term strategic work of the party and the country. General Secretary Xi Jinping attaches great importance to the work of returning overseas Chinese, their families and overseas compatriots. He has made important expositions and important instructions on overseas Chinese affairs in the new era and new journey, and has profoundly answered and promoted the resolution of a series of directional, fundamental and strategic issues related to the development of overseas Chinese affairs. We must thoroughly study, understand and fully implement the important requirements of General Secretary Xi Jinping, and firmly grasp the direction and tasks of overseas Chinese affairs.

Wang Huning said that the All-China Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese is a people's organization led by the Communist Party of China and serves as a bridge and link between the party and the government to contact the vast number of returned overseas Chinese, their families and overseas Chinese. Over the past 70 years, the All-China Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese has persisted in loving overseas Chinese deeply, abiding by its responsibilities to overseas Chinese, doing things that benefit overseas Chinese, uniting and guiding overseas Chinese to play a unique role in the development of the cause of the party and the country. Since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, the China Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese has adhered to the guidance of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, implemented General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important expositions on overseas Chinese affairs and the decisions and arrangements of the Party Central Committee, adhered to the theme of uniting efforts to share the Chinese dream, and adhered to the unity of serving the overall situation and serving overseas Chinese. It has united and mobilized overseas Chinese to make positive contributions in promoting national economic and social development, promoting the reunification of the motherland, inheriting and carrying forward Chinese culture, and enhancing exchanges and cooperation between China and foreign countries.

Wang Huning said that the "15th Five-Year Plan" period is a critical period for basically realizing socialist modernization, and overseas Chinese affairs work is facing new situations and tasks. It is hoped that the All-China Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese will keep in mind the requirement of adhering to fine traditions and let the "overseas Chinese spirit" be passed down from generation to generation among the overseas Chinese; keep in mind the requirement of cultivating the feelings of home and country and guide the overseas Chinese to forge a strong Chinese soul in the hearts of China; keep in mind the requirement of leveraging unique advantages and promote overseas Chinese affairs to better serve the overall development of the country; keep in mind the requirement of showing greater achievements, unite and guide the overseas Chinese to contribute to the comprehensive construction of a socialist modern country and the comprehensive promotion of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation. It is necessary to uphold the party's overall leadership over the work of the Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese, fully implement the party's policies on overseas Chinese affairs, and promote the high-quality development of the Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese. Party committees and governments at all levels must support the Overseas Chinese Federation organizations to carry out their work in accordance with laws and charters, and provide strong guarantees for the Overseas Chinese Federation organizations to perform various work functions.
