Straits Forum will be held, Mainland Affairs Council counters Blue Committee's "united front" theory

The Straits Forum will be held on June 13, and the Mainland Affairs Council recently announced that personnel from central agencies and local governments are prohibited from participating.

Kuomintang legislator Chen Yuzhen claimed that "it is not necessary", indicating that the government has no confidence in the democracy of Taiwan, Penghu, Jinma and Ma. "Why don't you think we can also unite against them?".

Mainland Affairs Council spokesperson Liang Wenjie said bitterly today that Chen Yuzhen said that we should unite the opponent, so we asked Chen Yuzhen to show everyone the results of uniting the opponent.

Chen Yuzhen said in a recent interview, "I personally don't think it is necessary," which means that the government "has no confidence in the democratic beliefs of Taiwan, Penghu, Jinma, and Taiwan." She criticized, "Why do we think that they must unite to fight against us? When we go to communicate with them, why don't we think that we can also unite to fight against them?"

In response, Liang Wenjie responded at the Mainland Affairs Council press conference that the reason for the announcement last week was that cross-strait policies must be consistent across the country and cannot be divided into central and local governments. As long as you are a member of the administrative agencies of the Republic of China, you should adopt a unanimous stance.

Liang Wenjie emphasized that since the central government has recognized the Straits Forum as a large-scale united front platform of the CCP, personnel at all levels should follow the central policies, regardless of which party you belong to, or whether you are a central or local government. As for Chen Yuzhen’s talk of uniting the other side, I would like to ask Committee Member Chen Yuzhen to show everyone the results of uniting the other side.

Liang Wenjie responded that the current cross-strait regulations do not restrict legislators from going to China to be subject to central review and approval. Cross-Strait policies must be consistent across the country, otherwise it will be impossible to resist the CCP’s various means of increasing pressure.
