Miaoli Tongxiao van lost control and crashed! 72-year-old man dies, wife rescued

At the intersection of Fude Road and Ziqiang Road in Tongxiao Town, Miaoli County, a traffic accident occurred this morning (19th) when a van lost control and crashed into a roadside parking lot and a telephone pole. A 72-year-old couple in the car were both sent to the hospital. Unfortunately, the husband died of serious injuries and the wife was also seriously injured.

The Tongxiao Police Station of the Tongxiao Police Station received a report at about 9 a.m. today, saying that a traffic accident occurred at the intersection of Fude Road and Ziqiang Intersection in Tongxiao Town. It was understood that a 72-year-old man surnamed Gu was driving a van carrying his 72-year-old wife surnamed Zhang. While driving on Zhongxing Road, he collided with two vehicles parked on the roadside for unknown reasons. He then lost control and turned left on Fude Road heading west to east, hitting a pole at the intersection of Fude Road and Ziqiang Intersection.

The old man surnamed Gu was rushed to the hospital for emergency treatment, but was still pronounced dead due to serious injuries; the old woman surnamed Zhang was also seriously injured and received emergency treatment. After preliminary investigation by the police, the old man surnamed Gu did not drive under the influence of alcohol or drugs. The detailed cause of the accident still needs to be further investigated and clarified. The whole case was reported to the prosecutor of the Miaoli District Prosecutor's Office for examination.
