A U.S. official told CNN earlier today that Trump's special envoy Steve Witkoff and son-in-law Jared Kushner plan to visit the Russian capital Moscow and the Ukrainian capital Kiev in the next few days to try to promote a diplomatic solution to the Russia-Ukraine conflict.

In a joint interview with the media in the Oval Office of the White House in the afternoon, Trump said that they would bring proposals to end this war.

Trump also said that "the conflict between Russia and Ukraine is a matter of character." The deep hatred between Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Vladimir Putin has become an obstacle, but this conflict must be resolved.

Therefore, Trump said that he sent two negotiators, Wyckoff and Kushner, "to see if we can get something done," and "there's a good chance we can get it done."
