New York, USA, is experiencing a surge in anti-Semitic incidents. The latest data from the New York Police shows that anti-Semitic incidents surged by 182% between January 2025 and January 2026. New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani announced several measures on the 29th aimed at curbing anti-Semitism and emphasized that all powers will be used to protect Jews.

According to the "AFP" report, Mandani stated in a report that New York's Jewish residents only account for 12% of the city's total population, but are the victims of nearly half of all reported hate crimes. Mandani added that other cities around the world have also reported disproportionately high numbers of hate crimes against Jews.

Mandani announced a doubling of hate crime prevention funding and an investment of US$1 million (approximately NT$31.88 million) to strengthen security at synagogues and other religious sites. Mamdani also noted that his office will encourage public schools to increase education about the Holocaust and Jewish contributions to New York.

Mandani claimed that his administration has zero tolerance for anti-Semitism and will not tolerate anti-Semitic incidents anywhere in New York. Mandani stressed that he would use his powers as mayor to protect Jews in New York.
