On Tuesday, the regional Rospotrebnadzor reported that in kindergarten No. 76 in Kaliningrad, 12 children from different groups fell ill with salmonellosis, nine of them were hospitalized in an infectious diseases hospital. The department is conducting a sanitary and epidemiological investigation.

“A criminal case has been opened on the grounds of a crime provided for in Part 1 of Article 236 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (violation of sanitary and epidemiological rules, which through negligence resulted in mass disease of people),” says the message of the regional Investigative Directorate of the Investigative Committee on the Max platform.

It is noted that during the preliminary investigation, investigators carry out a set of measures to collect and secure evidence. The scene of the incident was inspected, witnesses were questioned, documentation was requested, requests were sent to regulatory and supervisory authorities, and examinations were ordered. The circumstances of the incident are established, as well as the persons subject to criminal liability.

“The activities of the kindergarten have been suspended since September 8, 2026. In addition, the investigation is also checking the activities of the food supply organization in other preschool institutions in the region, where no similar cases of the disease have been recorded,” the press service added.
