State Duma deputy Kolesnik called rumors of mobilization part of the information war

Rumors about a new wave of mobilization are part of the information war against Russia, aimed at sowing panic and discontent in society, said Andrei Kolesnik, a member of the State Duma Defense Committee. He gave a comment to Lenta.ru.

“This is such a propaganda story, [to sow] some kind of panic, discontent in society. There is a normal, so to speak, information war going on against Russia, including in these ways,” Kolesnik said.

Kolesnik also explained that there is no need for mobilization today, since the army is fully equipped, and Russian military doctrine is based on the ability to fight, and not on the number of people.

Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin answered a question about mobilization in the country at a plenary meeting of the Eastern Economic Forum (EEF), emphasizing that the current situation does not imply such a development.
