"Unimpeded Craftsmanship and Great Love from the Palace" Exhibition of Intangible Cultural Heritage Creations of Tibetan Disabled Persons Opened in the Forbidden City

China News Service, Beijing, June 27 (Reporter Li Jingze) "Unimpeded Craftsmanship and Great Love from the Palace" exhibition of intangible cultural heritage works by persons with disabilities in the Tibet Autonomous Region opened on the 26th at the Cultural and Creative Integration Hall of the Palace Museum.

Cheng Kai, Chairman of the China Disabled Persons' Federation, Zhang Weixing, Member of the Party Leadership Group and Vice Chairman of the China Disabled Persons' Federation, Wang Yuegong, Vice President of the Palace Museum, Hong Wei, Secretary of the Party Leadership Group and Chairman of the Tibet Autonomous Region Disabled Persons' Federation, and others attended the opening ceremony.

This exhibition is the first time that the cultural and creative achievements of Tibetan disabled people have appeared in a national cultural hall. It displays nearly a hundred fine works such as thangkas, Tibetan handicrafts, and intangible cultural heritage weaving. The themes are rich and diverse, and they fully demonstrate the self-esteem, self-confidence, self-reliance, and self-improvement of Tibetan disabled people in the new era. It also presents the unique charm of Tibetan intangible cultural heritage and the good features of Tibetan national unity, social harmony, and literary and artistic prosperity in the new era. There were also two handicapped craftsmen on site, showing the audience the production techniques of filigree thangkas and leather carvings.

Hongwei said that the Tibet Autonomous Region continues to improve the public cultural service system for disabled people and vigorously supports the cultural and creative employment, intangible inheritance and artistic creation of disabled people. A large number of disabled creators in the snowy area who are physically disabled and determined to strive for self-improvement have taken root on the plateau and devoted themselves to creation. They integrate national culture, plateau feelings and fighting spirit into their works, interpret the power of life with ingenuity, and show the new trend of the times with art.

In his speech, Wu Di, director and general manager of Beijing Forbidden City Cultural Development Co., Ltd., spoke highly of the cultural and creative works of Tibetan disabled people. He believed that the exhibited works are unique in style, profound in heritage, contemporary, national and artistic, and are a vivid epitome of the diversity and unity of Chinese civilization.
