Former Iranian President Khatami supports the memorandum signed with the USA

In his video speech published on the Iran-based "Eghtesadonline" news site, Khatami supported the government of President Massoud Pezeshkiyan regarding the agreement signed with the USA against the opposition of the conservative segment in the country.

Stating that he, like other Iranian politicians, does not trust the USA, Hatami said, "The signed memorandum of understanding is a great opportunity for the country that should not be wasted." he said.

Hatemi used the following statements:

"If we lose the opportunity created by the memorandum of understanding, we will face very serious problems. This memorandum has no analogues. After the Second World War, there has been no other document signed by the US President that provided so many privileges to the other party."

Expressing his support for Pezeşkiyan, Hatemi said:

"Every step to be taken to lift the restrictions on Iran and open the way to the future should be supported.

I kiss Mr. Pezeshkian's hand for signing this agreement bravely and selflessly. "I thank the Supreme National Security Council for voting (in favor of the memorandum of understanding) and Iranian leader Mojtaba Khamenei for approving (the memorandum of understanding)."

The agreement reached between Iran and the USA

Iran and the USA announced that they had reached a 14-article agreement on June 14, within the scope of the negotiation process brokered by Pakistan, stipulating that the war should be stopped and the problems between the parties should be resolved through negotiations.

The memorandum of understanding, called the "Islamabad Memorandum", came into force on June 18, when it was signed digitally by Iranian President Massoud Pezeshkiyan and US President Donald Trump.

The agreement includes articles such as ending the war, including Lebanon, opening the Strait of Hormuz, and lifting the naval blockade imposed by the USA on Iran.
