Heavy rain from Typhoon No. 25 floods areas around JR Sakura Station, causing residents to worry as Takasaki River overflows

In the vicinity of JR Sakura Station in Sakura City, Chiba Prefecture, where heavy rains caused by Typhoon No. 25 caused the nearby Takasaki River to overflow, water remained submerged overnight on the 22nd, and roads remained submerged in wide areas. In a residential area north of the station where the Takasaki River is located, several vehicles, including trucks, were stranded with water up to the top of their tires. Residents peeked out from their homes and apartments to check their surroundings, and firefighters pulling rubber boats went back and forth, submerged up to their waists in water.

Flooding continued into the afternoon, and JR suspended operations. ``I've lived here for a long time, but this is the first time I've seen something like this,'' said a man who was pushing his bicycle in front of the station with wet shoes.

A middle-aged woman who came with her husband to see the situation at the station looked back with horror, saying, ``Last month's heavy rain in Chiba was also bad, but this time it was even stronger and lasted longer.''
