(Busan = Yonhap News) Reporter Oh Soo-hee = Busan's employment rate in August showed a slight increase compared to the employment rate in August last year.

According to data released by the Southeast Regional Data Office on the 9th, the employment rate in Busan in August was 58.8%, up 0.5 percentage points (p) compared to August last year.

The population of Busan aged 15 or older was 2.899 million, a decrease of 7,000 or 0.2% from a year ago.

The economically active population was 1,726,000, a decrease of 4,000 (0.2%) compared to August of last year, and the economic activity participation rate was 59.5%, down 0.1 percentage points from a year ago.

The economically inactive population was 1.173 million, a decrease of 2,000 (0.2%) compared to August last year.

The number of employed people in Busan in August was 1.704 million, an increase of 11,000 (0.6%) compared to a year ago.

By gender, the male employment rate was 65.8%, down 0.8 percentage points compared to August last year, but the female employment rate was 52.3%, up 1.7 percentage points.

The number of unemployed people was 22,000, a decrease of 15,000, or 39.8%, from a year ago.

The unemployment rate fell 0.8 percentage points to 1.3%.
