[Reporter Xu Mingli/Comprehensive Report] The Tokyo Olympics bronze medal team Lin Yunru/Zheng Yijing defeated the new Japanese combination Shinozuka Daito/Ito Mima in straight three at the Nagoya Asian Games table tennis mixed doubles event today. The top 8 will face the world's number one South Korean combination Lin Jonghoon/Shin Yubin, only one win away from the medal.

Mima Ito won the mixed doubles gold medal with Hayabusa Mizutani at the Tokyo Olympics, while Daito Shinozuka won the men's doubles championship at the World Championships last year with Hayabusa Togami, but this is the first time the two have worked together at the Asian Games.

Facing the strong Japanese team in doubles, Lin Yunru/Zheng Yijing launched a wave of 8-point attacks in the first game and quickly won 11:5. In the second game, Lin Zhengpei overcame a 1:3 deficit at the beginning and chased 7 points in a row to draw 10:4 at 3:4. Although the Japanese team tenaciously resolved 5 game points to catch up to 1 point difference, the Taiwanese team still managed to win another victory at 11:9. In the third game, Lin Zhengpei started strongly with 4:0. The Japanese team once caught up with 5:3. The Taiwanese team immediately responded with a 6:0 shutout offensive, sealing the victory at 11:3.

Lin Zhongxun/Shin Yubin, who won the bronze medal at the last Asian Games in Hangzhou, also defeated the Kazakh combination of Halki/Mirkadylova in the round of 16 with 11:5, 11:4, 11:6. Last year, Lin Yunru/Zheng Yijing met Lin Jongxun/Shin Yubin twice at the World Championships in Doha and the US Grand Slam, and both lost 2:3. However, in the quarterfinals of the European Grand Slam last month, Lin Zhengpei found a way to solve the problem and finally won the first victory of the match 3:1.

Another Taiwanese combination, Feng Yixin/Ye Yitian, lost to the world's second-ranked Chinese combination Wang Chuqin/Sun Yingsha 1:11, 7:11, 6:11 and missed the chance to advance to the top 8.
