The number of Yunlin County council seats in the next term has increased from 43 to 45, with 73 people registered. The competition is fierce. It is worth noting that 8 of the current incumbents will not be re-elected and hand over the baton to their wives, children or brothers. Among them, Cai Yongfu in the 5th district will hand over the baton to his younger brother Cai Yongshun, and his son Cai Jiajun will challenge Yunlin's first mountain aboriginal councillor.
Yunlin County Councilors have 6 constituencies to be elected for 43 seats. In the next term, one new seat will be added for mountainous and flatland indigenous people. In the 1st constituency of Douliu, Haotong, and Linnei, 10 seats should be elected and 18 people have registered; in the 2nd constituency of Dounan, Gukeng, and Dapi, 6 seats should be elected and 9 people have registered; in the 3rd constituency of Huwei, Tuku, and Baobao Zhong and Yuanchang, 9 seats should be elected and 11 people have registered; in the 4th electoral district of Xiluo, Lunbei and Erlun, 6 seats should be elected and 11 people have registered; in the 5th electoral district of Taixi, Mailiao, Dongshi and Sihu, 7 seats should be elected and 10 people should register; in the 6th electoral district of Beigang, Shuilin and Kouhu, 5 seats should be elected and 7 people should register.
What attracted the most attention in this year’s election campaign is that eight current members of Congress will hand over the baton to their families. Former Speaker Shen Zonglong will hand over the baton to his son Shen Yuting, Deputy Speaker Cai Yongxun will hand over the baton to his wife Huang Meilan, Wang Youmin will hand over the baton to his son Wang Junyi, and Cai Dongfu will hand over the baton to his wife. Zihong Huiling and Zheng Linghui handed over the baton to their daughter Wang Yidi, Yang Guokuan handed over the baton to his son Yang Zhikai, Su Guolong handed over the baton to his younger brother Su Guoyi, and Cai Yongfu handed over the baton to his younger brother Cai Yongshun. Their son Cai Jiajun ran for the first Yunlin County mountain aboriginal parliamentarian.
There are only 83 days left before the voting day on November 28. Each constituency has entered a stage of fierce competition. From sitting in a sedan chair to carrying a sedan chair, many people said that they did not dare to be careless until the votes were issued. The work of supporting the election was not easy and was more stressful than voting by themselves.
