Organized Fraud Group that defrauded 801 people was led to its dead end

Under the coordination of the Eskişehir Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, Eskişehir Police Department Public Order Branch Directorate Fraud Bureau teams took action regarding the allegations of qualified fraud. It was determined that some suspects, who called citizens as representatives of corporate internet/communication companies, said, "Current internet infrastructures have changed throughout Turkey. Old modems will be disabled and internet services will be cut off in a short time." The suspects, who claimed that there would be a mandatory infrastructure transition, promised discounts on their current tariffs. He also made false statements, saying, "If you do not change the modem, the bill will increase."

THEY CREATED THE PERCEPTION OF TECHNICAL NECESSITY AND OFFICIAL ACTION It was determined that the suspects created the perception of technical obligation and official transaction on the victims with this method and carried out modem purchases and payment at the door. According to the findings, most of the modems sent to the victims were incompatible with existing internet infrastructures and were well below market value. Victims could not actively use the modems. The promised internet bill discount was not applied.

801 VICTIMS, 116 MILLION LIRA... An operation was organized in 19 provinces, centered in Eskişehir, against the suspects who were determined to have victimized 801 people throughout Türkiye with this method. A total of 90 suspects, including company executives where the fraudulent activities were organized, were caught. It was determined that there was an inflow of approximately 116 million lira in suspicious accounts, which was considered to have come from the victims.

90 SUSPECTS IN CUSTODY, ACCOUNTS SEIZED All bank and crypto asset accounts of the suspects and 13 companies were seized. In addition, 5 cars, 1 flat, 1 duplex villa and 1 land with a total value of approximately 43 million 500 thousand lira, which were assessed to have been obtained through fraud, were also seized. The investigation continues in many aspects.
