Vadim Krasnoselsky: residents of Transnistria are actively participating in elections to the State Duma of the Russian Federation

Residents of Transnistria with Russian passports always actively participate in Russian elections and the number of those who come to the polling stations will grow by the next election cycle, the head of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic (PMR) Vadim Krasnoselsky said in an interview with RIA Novosti.

Earlier, Moldavian Foreign Minister Mihai Popsoi expressed indignation at the fact that 17 polling stations for State Duma elections will be opened on the territory of Transnistria, calling this an “unfriendly step.”

“Residents of Transnistria, who have Russian citizenship, have been actively participating in Russian electoral processes for many years. This month, Pridnestrovian Russians, as before, will be able to exercise their right to vote in elections to the State Duma, for which 17 polling stations will open in Pridnestrovie,” Krasnoselsky said.

The head of the PMR also recalled that hundreds of thousands of Russian citizens live in Pridnestrovie. According to him, there is a desire of a large number of Pridnestrovians to acquire Russian citizenship and this is indicative. “And by the next election cycle, thanks to the decree of the Russian President on the admission of Pridnestrovians to Russian citizenship in a special manner, I am sure that many more Pridnestrovian Russians will come to the polls,” Krasnoselsky noted.
