Egypt.. An official warning because of Kamel Al-Wazir

Kamel Al-Wazir told the engineer who was speaking to him during the tour that the ministry is interested in developing the scientific level of engineers, explaining that diploma holders can be sent on scholarships to obtain a master’s degree abroad.

When the engineer told him that she already had a Master’s degree, the minister replied, “It means we will leave you and get a Master’s degree as soon as you come for scholarship.”

He explained to her that until the master's scholarship was available, she could be sent for a joint training month with Korea, Japan, or China, as a reward for her excellence.

The dialogue sparked interaction on social media and criticism of the minister, who treated “master” and “master’s” as different qualifications, and did not understand that they referred to the same academic degree.

Engineer Rana Imam, an engineer at the National Tunnels Authority, sent a letter of thanks and appreciation to the minister after he directed her to grant her the opportunity to obtain a specialized master’s degree in the field of transportation, in addition to training scholarships to hone her professional expertise.

The engineer said, in her first comment on the incident on her page on the social networking site “Facebook”: “Praise be to God for the generosity and success of our Lord. I am truly unable to express the extent of my thanks and appreciation for the support, encouragement and reward of the entire Al-Wazir team.”

She added: “The truth is, Your Excellency, the Minister is always keen on providing us with specialized support, and is always interested in refining our expertise to raise our professional competence,” explaining that this is confirmed by the training scholarships and specialized master’s grants provided by the Ministry in the field of transportation.

She explained that the new scholarship will complement the master’s degree she previously obtained from the National Planning Institute, stressing that the new study represents an addition to her experiences and knowledge in the field of her engineering work at the National Tunnels Authority.

She pointed out that obtaining more than one master’s degree in different fields contributes to refining expertise in several aspects, stressing the importance of developing specialized skills and knowledge in the field of engineering work.
