Taiwan's women's softball team loses to Japan, misses Asian Games gold medal match

Taiwan's women's softball team faced Japan, the defending team that is seeking its seventh consecutive championship, in the Nagoya Asian Games preliminaries today. It showed limited firepower and lost 2:4 in the end. It was determined that it would miss the gold medal game and will compete for the bronze medal on the 3rd day.

The Taiwanese women's team ended with a bronze medal at the Hangzhou Asian Games last year. They lost to China by 1 point a few days ago. They were temporarily ranked third with 4 wins and 1 loss before the game. They must defeat Japan today to have a chance to advance to the gold medal game. The Taiwanese team relied on Jiang Ting'en and Liu Xuan'an's hit series and the Japanese team's wild throw to get the first point in the 3rd game. However, in the second half of the game, the Japanese team immediately blew the counterattack horn and relied on 3 hits to achieve a 2:1 lead.

Jiang Ting'en made another contribution in the 4th inning, hitting a double to help the Taiwanese team tie the game. However, the Taiwanese team lost again in the second half of the 6th inning. The Japanese team scored 2 points with the hit of Yusei Nakamori and the error of the Taiwanese shortstop Liu Xuan. The Taiwanese team ended up losing by 2 points. After the game, the Taiwanese team ranked third with a record of 4 wins and 2 losses. Japan and China, who will face off tomorrow, have won all 6 games and are determined to face each other in the gold medal match. The Taiwan team can only fight for the bronze medal on the 3rd day.
