Russians began to massively buy smartphone models with less memory. This trend was explained in a conversation with NSN by the director of the Navigator media agency, Konstantin Podstreshny.

The expert linked the change in consumer demand with the situation on the consumer electronics market. According to him, chip manufacturers, amid growing demand from the artificial intelligence industry, are redistributing capacity in favor of the corporate segment, which affects the availability of components.

Memory capacity is one of the smartphone characteristics that buyers can save on when choosing a device, Podstreshny added. “It doesn’t matter to a child whether it’s 128 or 256 GB - he will litter the entire available volume, and either one will not be enough. Another reason for the growth in demand is a second phone for applications, including banking, which are not available in the Apple and Google digital stores,” the specialist explained.

In addition, according to Podstreshny, for many buyers, when choosing a smartphone, a stable Internet connection and device performance are now more important than the maximum capacity of the built-in storage.
