The Russian Central Election Commission canceled the registration of Nikolai Bondarenko for the State Duma elections

The Central Election Commission (CEC) of Russia canceled the registration of candidate for State Duma deputy from the Communist Party of the Russian Federation Nikolai Bondarenko due to an administrative case initiated against him. This was announced by commission member Konstantin Mazurevsky at a meeting, which was broadcast on the government agency’s website.

Mazurevsky recalled that a citizen subjected to administrative punishment under the article on propaganda or public display of Nazi symbols cannot be elected as a State Duma deputy during the execution of the decision against him. According to a member of the Central Election Commission, this period is calculated from the moment the court decision enters into legal force and “takes a year.”

12 members of the Central Election Commission voted in favor of canceling the registration of Bondarenko, who occupied first place in his regional group, and 1 more was against it.
