Ashok Dahal and Kamal Pariyar of BBC News Nepali, reporting from Nuwakot district of Nepal, have said that the head teacher of a school here took about 900 students to a safe place in time.
According to head teacher Rajendra Dawadi, he had received four phone calls from different people within a few minutes regarding the threat of flood. After these warnings, they decided to evacuate the school without any delay.
Rajendra Dawadi is the head teacher of Tribhuvan Trishuli Secondary School, Nuwakot. A total of more than 1,600 students study in the school.
While taking the children to a safe place at higher altitude, Dawadi saw that the school hostel, located about 100 meters away from the river, was drowning in the flood water.
Saved his life by running away from the muddy road
One of the 900 students was 16-year-old Yunisha, who says she was able to escape just moments before the flood hit.
She told the BBC, "I and my friends survived by only 10 seconds. Within moments the market was washed away before my eyes."
Yunisha tells that she along with other students ran upwards through a narrow and muddy path behind the school.
Yunisha was interviewed by her mother, Sabina Shrestha, who says that after hearing the news of the floods, the family spent several hours trying to contact her in desperate straits.

She says, "I was terrified. I called my daughter and her father several times, but could not contact them."
When his daughter was finally contacted, Shrestha felt some relief, but the family remained worried until Yunisha returned home three days later.

Nepal Bankers Association has said that due to floods in Bhotekoshi, nine different bank branches have been completely destroyed.
Association president Santosh Koirala said, "We have received reports that 27 employees of our bank are also missing."

Along with this, 90 people from America, 62 from Ukraine, 51 from Malaysia, 41 from Australia, 33 from Britain and 30 from Canada are missing after the floods.
Apart from these, some people from South Korea, South Africa, Portugal, Netherlands and New Zealand have not been able to be contacted. Is included among the missing people.
