ALMA-ATA, September 25 - RIA Novosti. The investigation has identified persons suspected in the case of the death of military sailors during exercises in the Caspian Sea, the press service of the Prosecutor General's Office of Kazakhstan reports.

“Officials were identified as suspected of negligent attitude towards the service, as well as those who failed to ensure control and take the necessary measures to ensure the safety of personnel, taking into account weather conditions, and who improperly organized rescue operations, which led to the death of people,” the supervisory authority said in a statement.

It is clarified that an inspection of the scene of the incident was carried out, more than 30 military personnel were interrogated, documentation and video materials were confiscated. 12 examinations were appointed.

On Friday, a national day of mourning was declared in Kazakhstan in connection with the death of military personnel.

On September 24, the Ministry of Defense of Kazakhstan reported that during exercises in the Mangistau region on the Caspian coast, due to a sharp deterioration in weather and increased wind, 17 sailors were blown out to sea, 12 of them died, three were rescued. The search for the remaining two servicemen continues. The search operation involved more than 250 rescuers, about 40 military divers, more than 20 aircraft, including 4 helicopters.
