Lawyer acting as prosecutor plans to ask Osaka District Court to play interrogation video (Kyodo News)

Three designated lawyers acting as prosecutors announced on the 2nd that they will ask the Osaka District Court to play the interrogation footage in court regarding the trial of Daisuke Tabuchi (54), currently the Tokyo High Public Prosecutors Office, who was sentenced to trial on charges of assaulting and abusing a special public servant for yelling at the suspect and slamming him on the desk while yelling at the suspect, ``Don't mess with the prosecution!'' during an interrogation of a case handled by the Osaka District Public Prosecutors Office's special investigation department.

At a press conference in Osaka, the three explained that they had interviewed dozens of prosecutors since August 2024, when the decision was made to send Prosecutor Tabuchi to criminal trial. New email exchanges between prosecutor Tabuchi and his superiors will also be obtained and submitted as evidence.

Masayuki Yamaguchi, the designated lawyer, said, ``We will do our best to prove guilt.We also want to clarify the systematic involvement of the prosecutors.''

The first hearing will be held on July 10th. If the Osaka District Court approves the request for evidence of the interrogation video, it is expected to be played at the second trial scheduled for July 15. According to sources, prosecutor Tabuchi plans to plead not guilty at trial.
