9th Russian State Duma Commences Work with First Plenary Session

MOSCOW, September 30. /TASS/. The 9th Russian State Duma has officially started its work, with the lawmakers holding their first plenary session.

United Russia lawmaker Yury Petrov opened the meeting.

"Dear State Duma deputies, dear guests, I hereby pronounce the first session of the Russian State Duma open," he said.

The lawmakers then stood and listened to the Russian national anthem.

Following the results of the September 18-20 elections to the 9th State Duma, United Russia won 349 seats, the Communist Party of the Russian Federation (CPRF) got 37, the Liberal Democratic Party of the Russian Federation (LDPR) received 23, New People garnered 19, A Just Russia - For Truth got 17, Rodina received one, and four seats went to independent candidates.
