Taiwan Shipbuilding Union re-elects Zhang Yide as chairman

The Taiwan Shipbuilding Company Enterprise Trade Union, known as "Taiwan's most powerful union", held a representative meeting today (11th) to re-elect nine cadre positions for the fourth term. This is particularly eye-catching when the union's chairman Zhang Yide issued a statement that he would not hesitate to launch a protest against the freezing of the follow-up submarine Haikun. With the help of infield personnel, almost all elections were held at the same level, demonstrating the high degree of discipline of the union. Zhang Yide was re-elected as chairman. He said that he would continue to fight for the maximum rights and interests of Taiwan Shipbuilding colleagues.

The Taiwan Shipbuilding Union has 2,466 members. It is a trade union group that has watched domestic developments. In particular, the submarine Haikun built by Taiwan Shipbuilding is undergoing critical sea trials. However, it is reported that the tens of billions of dollars in budget for the follow-up ship has been frozen by the proposal of Kuomintang legislator Ma Wenjun. The union issued a statement that "it does not rule out taking to the streets to protest." The actions after the re-election have become the focus of attention. The Taiwan Shipbuilding Union has 96 representatives, and 94 of them attended the vote today, with a turnout rate of 98%. Zhang Yide received 88 votes (nearly 94% of the votes) and was re-elected; Vice Chairman is Xu Hanxun; Executive Directors Zhang Jiaxiang, Wang Yurong, Lin Zhaoliang, and Su Wenxiang; Directors Lin Bingyi, Xie Bingjian, Chen Kuncai, Yu Wenzhong, Zeng Yanru, Pan Jianxun, Li Yulin, Weng Yuxin, Gong Weisong, Pan Shengying, and Chen Yingzhen.

The convener of the board of supervisors is Xu Mingde, and the supervisors include Liao Chunkang, Chen Pinquan, Qiu Yangcen, and Li Rengui. The only challenger was the re-election of the Welfare Committee, which was all won by the infield faction, with Hong Shengzhe as the chairman and Xu Zhengyi as the director-general. The remaining labor-management meeting representatives, safety and health committee representatives, group agreement representatives, labor pension supervision committee, and food supervision committee were all successfully elected.
