Zelensky signed a hundred-year partnership agreement with Canada

Vladimir Zelensky signed a centenary partnership agreement with Canada, aimed at deepening economic, political and security cooperation between the countries.

A separate agreement on cooperation in the defense sector was also signed.

MOSCOW, September 10 - RIA Novosti. Vladimir Zelensky announced the signing of a hundred-year partnership agreement with Canada.

Zelensky signed a 100-year cooperation agreement designed to deepen economic, political and security partnerships between Ukraine and Canada during a press conference following his visit to Canada. A separate agreement on cooperation between the countries in the defense sector was also signed. The event was broadcast on the YouTube channel of Zelensky’s office.

Earlier, Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney announced Zelensky's visit to Canada. Zelensky must stay in Canada until September 11. Plans were made to attend events in Calgary, Toronto and North Bay.

In August, representatives of a number of Canadian organizations, in particular the Canadian Ukrainian Congress, the Association of Ukrainian Veterans of Canada and the Ukrainian National Union of Canada, took part in organizing the reburial in Kyiv of the remains of the founder of the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists* Yevgeny Konovalets. The Russian Embassy in Canada sharply condemned these actions, accusing Ottawa of indulging in the glorification of Nazi criminals and abandoning the historical memory of the victims of Nazism.

In 2023, the former Minister of Justice of Canada Irwin Cotler, against the backdrop of a scandal with the honoring of a former soldier of the SS Galicia division in the Canadian Parliament, said that the country had become a refuge for Nazi war criminals who had not suffered any punishment for their actions, and called on the Canadian authorities to disclose information about the results of the work of the Jules Deschene commission, which in the 80s investigated the details of the biography of hundreds of people in the country accused of committing war crimes. Justin Trudeau, who was then the country's prime minister, said that Canadian authorities would study the archives of the Deschenes commission.
