The action comes after the confirmation of two cases of measles in Peruvian patients treated in Rio Branco, in addition to low HPV vaccination coverage.
An action, aimed at National Vaccination Day, takes place this Saturday (17) in 19 points spread across different regions of Rio Branco. Vaccinations against yellow fever, hepatitis B, HPV, meningitis, measles, tetanus, among others, are offered.
To receive vaccinations, simply present a personal document and, if available, a vaccination card. The doses are aimed at children, adolescents, adults and the elderly. Services take place from 7am to 9pm.
The vaccines offered are part of the National Immunization Program (PNI), according to the indications for each vaccine and the vaccination status of each person.
According to the Municipal Health Department (Semsa), the action aims to expand the population's access to immunization agents, in addition to encouraging the updating of vaccination records.
"Vaccination is one of the main responsibilities of the municipal health network. As National Vaccination Day falls on a Saturday, we are organizing a large activity to facilitate access for the population. The idea is that people take advantage of opportunities throughout the day to update the vaccination record for the entire family", said the health secretary, Rennan Biths.
To facilitate access for the population, vaccines will be available at stations installed in supermarkets, health units and high-traffic locations with schedules organized according to each location.
The folder also reinforces the need to expand HPV vaccination coverage among children and adolescents. According to Semsa, coverage of this vaccine among the target audience is around 40%.
“The HPV vaccine is aimed at children and adolescents aged 9 to 14, and we need to increase the awareness of parents and guardians to ensure the protection of this population”, highlighted the municipal health secretary.
The action also seeks to reinforce the importance of vaccination against measles. The state government confirmed, on the 8th of this month, two cases of measles in patients living in Peru who were treated in Rio Branco.
The Acre State Department of Health (Sesacre) reported that the patients are an 11-month-old child and a 30-year-old woman, residents of Puerto Maldonado, Peru. The last case of measles registered in Acre was in 2000, according to the ministry. The woman has already been discharged from hospital and the child remains intubated in serious condition in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of Hospital da Criança.
