The use of artificial intelligence in forensic studies was discussed

Cameriere, who attended the 21st International Forensic Medicine Days Congress in Antalya, where Anadolu Agency (AA) is the "Global Communication Partner", told the AA correspondent that developing technology has led to significant changes in the field of forensic medicine.

Cameriere stated that artificial intelligence was used in age determination and that they received support from a working group including the European Union and Türkiye on this issue.

Pointing out that the effect of artificial intelligence is increasing, Cameriere said, "Artificial intelligence in age determination can be a great benefit, but it can also be a great disaster. If we train the right people and bring artificial intelligence to a certain point with them, then we can see the benefit of the technology." he said.

It is used to determine the ages of immigrants in Italy

Cameriere said that age determination is not only used in courts but is also needed in different areas.

Stating that anthropology is one of the important fields where age determination is used, Cameriere stated that immigrants who come to Italy irregularly often do not have documents that will help determine their identity.

Pointing out that immigrants can also misrepresent their ages, Cameriere explained that age determination methods are used for this reason.

The human factor is still very important

President of the American Academy of Forensic Sciences (AAFS), Specialist. Dr. James Caruso also said that artificial intelligence has begun to be used in many areas around the world.

Stating that artificial intelligence has begun to be used in forensic sciences, Caruso emphasized that this technology offers significant advantages, but the human factor should not be ignored.

Caruso said, "Artificial intelligence has started to be used in forensic sciences. This is a new concept for us. However, it is important to underline here that the human factor is still very important. A well-trained forensic expert must be in charge. Artificial intelligence has many advantages, but it is also an element that must be well controlled." he said.
