In the fourth year of Shaosheng's reign in the Northern Song Dynasty, Su Dongpo crossed the sea and arrived in Hainan, where he lived in Danzhou for three years. Chengmai Tongchao Pavilion was Su Dongpo's first stop when he crossed the sea to Qiong, and was also his last stop when he returned north to Li Qiong. More than 900 years ago, Dongpo landed on the island here, and in his later years he set off from this coast to return north. "The park opened just in time for the National Day holiday, and the number of daily visitors has exceeded 20,000 in the past few days. Projects such as Su Shi's Life Theater, Flying Cinema, and VR immersive interaction are very popular among tourists." Bai Meixia, the operation manager of Chengmai Dongpo Park, said that the park targets the needs of young tourists and parent-child families, and launches NPC interaction, Dongpo Flying Flower Order, immersive scene performances, intangible cultural heritage market and other experience projects to showcase Dongpo culture and the life aesthetics of the Song Dynasty in a relaxed and participatory form.
The craze for visiting Dongpo is not limited to Chengmai. Dongpo cultural relics such as Danzhou Dongpo Academy and Haikou Wugong Temple have successively launched special activities such as movable type printing, poetry recitation, and Hanfu experience during the National Day, connecting Dongpo's travels in Hainan, and promoting the search for Dongpo to become a new trend in holiday cultural tourism.
