An elderly man in Yunnan was burned after he mistakenly drank "white peach scented toilet mousse" for a drink. The investigation found that there are a large number of daily chemical products with a highly "food-like" appearance on the market, and the warning signs are often not eye-catching. Experts pointed out that this has serious safety hazards, and the merchants have failed to fulfill their obligation to inform.

Kenya's Ministry of Health confirmed 4 new confirmed cases of Ebola, including relatives of the first deceased and 3 medical staff, bringing the total number of cases nationwide to 7. Officials reiterated that the risk to the public remains low and there is no evidence of community transmission.

Professor Qian Jiang, a senior eye expert from Johns Hopkins University, has relocated to China full time to advance research on eye transplants and computer models of virtual cells.

The 2026 World Congress of Traditional Medicine was held in Beijing from October 17th to 18th. During this period, the "Global Traditional Medicine Alliance", the world's first non-profit international scientific and technological organization in the field of traditional medicine, was officially established, attracting 117 units and individuals from 19 countries and regions to promote the development of global health.

On October 18, World Menopause Care Day, Professor Qiu Jianyin of the National Center for Psychiatric Disease said that menopausal women often report physical symptoms for the first time and ignore anxiety, and called for scientific evaluation and timely intervention to avoid silently suffering.

Lo Chung-mau, Secretary for Health of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government, stated in an interview in Beijing that traditional medicine must not only inherit the wisdom of ancestors but also achieve development. For some time to come, traditional medicine will have greater room for development in technology, and the application of big data and artificial intelligence technologies in particular will help standardize traditional Chinese medicine.
