Cemil Tugay resigned from the Republican People's Party on June 18. On September 30, he was received by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan at Tugay Beştepe.

During the meeting, Tugay announced that he provided Erdoğan with information about the important issues on Izmir's agenda and projects for the future of the city.

However, after the meeting, allegations that Tugay would switch to the AK Party began to be voiced more loudly in public.

Lastly, Tugay responded to a user who wrote on social media, "President, when you switch to the AK Party, will you fire our working brothers? Even if you say no, I won't believe it. Because you did everything you said you wouldn't do."

Cemil Tugay said, "We did not do anything to anyone who was able to do their job. From now on, nothing will happen to anyone who does their job." He used the expression.

It was noteworthy that Tugay did not deny the claim that he would switch to the AK Party in his response.

According to the allegations in the backstage, Cemil Tugay will join the AK Party at the ceremony to be held today. It is among the allegations that 4 district mayors will join the AK Party along with Tugay.
