Aldo Clemente is elected president of the Natal City Council

Aldo assumes the presidency of the Chamber for the first time from January 1, 2027, replacing Ériko Jácome, also from PSDB, who has been in office since 2023.

Councilor Daniel Valença said that the opposition bench was also against the vote in the way it took place, during the election period. He claimed that there was no dialogue and that notice of the vote was sent two days in advance.

"I just know that it is very strange for a house that sometimes does not provide a quorum, that does not have a vote on important projects, to have a vote on a new board of directors just four days before the elections", he questioned.

In his first speech as president-elect of the House, Aldo Clemente thanked the votes and said that he will dialogue with the situation and the opposition during his stay in office.

"I will establish a rhythm here counting on each one of you and I will have an open dialogue, whether with the opposition or with the situation. I learned to do politics without looking in the rear view mirror. I don't look in the rear view mirror, I look ahead. Parliament has to have pride, independence, harmony and, above all, defend the interests of the population of Natal", he said.

A career civil servant at the Public Ministry of Rio Grande do Norte (MPRN), Aldo Clemente, 48, from Caico, was elected councilor of Natal for the first time in 2016, with 2,229 votes, but lost his position after 8 months due to a recount of votes by the Regional Electoral Court (TRE).
