Ali Namdar detained in his absence for hand grenade attack in Katrineholm

About a year ago, a hand grenade was found in a courtyard at a business in central Katrineholm. The National Bomb Squad was called to the scene and assessed that the hand grenade was sharp.

It was a massive operation and the police evacuated between 50 and 100 people. By 10 p.m., the bomb shelter had neutralized the hand grenade, which never exploded.

"Children are consumables"

In July, a 14-year-old and a 16-year-old boy were convicted against their denials of involvement in the crime. According to the prosecutor, the mastermind behind the failed attack is 21-year-old Katrineholmaren Ali Namdar.

- I can only state that when it comes to these children, they are consumables. That image is confirmed in all these investigations, says prosecutor Adolf Moberg Oleszkiewicz.

He has previously been internationally wanted and is one of the most prioritized on Europol's list of wanted persons. Swedish police are very keen to arrest him.

Arrested in his absence

On Thursday morning, Namdar was detained in absentia by the Nyköping District Court, suspected of attempting to cause serious destruction to the public and instigating a crime against the Act on Flammable and Explosive Goods, a serious crime.

- I mean that he is the instigator, says Adolf Moberg Oleszkiewicz.

According to Ali Namdar's defenders, he denies any wrongdoing.
