America's Cup: Sbarra 'the challenge is to transform sporting success into a concrete legacy'

"We have demonstrated, with the over 280 thousand attendances of the preliminary regatta and the 1300 new sailing members in Campania, the great potential and enormous opportunities of this event: our challenge is to transform this sporting success into a concrete legacy for Naples, for the entire South and above all for the new generations". Luigi Sbarra, Undersecretary of State at the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, said this during his speech in Naples during the ceremony preceding the launching into the water in Bagnoli of the AC75 of the French crew La Roche-Posay, engaged next year in the America's Cup 2027.

"It is an extraordinary event, of international importance - underlined the government representative - which combines sport, technology and capacity for innovation, but here in Bagnoli it takes on an even more important meaning because it becomes part of a path, which continues for a few years, of true rebirth and development of the territory". The Bagnoli project is "initiated and supported by the Meloni Government which in July 2024 allocated 1 billion and 200 million from the Development and Cohesion Fund for the reclamation and redevelopment activities of this area, an operation that has been awaited for decades", recalled Sbarra, thanking "all the administrations involved", placing the emphasis on the "beautiful planning" and the complete "institutional synergy".
