Annys Batista wins the Grand Prize at the Vistula Sounds International Festival

The singer Annys Batista, one of the promising young performers in Cuba, won the Grand Prize at the fifth Vistula Sounds International Festival, held in Bydgoszcz, Poland. The artist spread Caribbean talent and flavor by defending an emblematic work of the national repertoire: Siboney, by the renowned composer Ernesto Lecuona. With this presentation, which earned praise during the closing ceremony at the Opera Nova, the young woman demonstrated interpretive strength, versatility and her own artistic identity, according to the media.

“Her proposal connected the Cuban musical tradition with an international audience, reaffirming the validity of Lecuona's music and the artist's ability to build cultural bridges,” the text adds. The performer has a recital planned in Spain on the 21st of this month, and from August 30 to September 6 she will represent Cuba at the International Ethno-Song Festival “Ecos de los Nómadas” in Cholpon-Ata, Kyrgyzstan.
