Forest fire in Antalya was taken under control after 67.5 hours

A forest fire broke out in Karaöz District of Aksu district at around 16.30 on Monday. The fire, which started in the forest covered with dense pine trees, grew rapidly under the influence of the wind. Forestry and fire brigades intervened by land and air to the fire, which was advancing close to settlements. Citizens and their animals were evacuated from endangered settlements.

10 aircraft, including 2 planes and 8 helicopters, 183 water tankers, 7 TOMAs, and 1307 personnel participated in the work to intervene in the forest fire in which Hasan Kahya, who lives in Yeşilkaraman District, which was affected by the fire that spread to Kızıllı District of Kepez district yesterday, had a heart attack and died, 8 citizens were affected, and many houses and barns burned down. The fire was brought under control at around 12:00 today, after 67.5 hours. Extinguishing efforts in the region were replaced by cooling efforts. While sprinklers stand guard at the entrances of forests burned to ashes by fire, cooling efforts continue with fire extinguishing helicopters in smoke-filled areas.

On the other hand, efforts are continuing to return life to normal in the neighborhoods damaged by the fire. Power lines were renewed and energy began to be supplied to areas that could not be energized.

While the smoke that covered most of the city due to the fire that had been going on for days was dissipating, the areas turned to ash were viewed from the air with a drone.
