Houthis claim two drone strikes on Aramco refinery in Saudi Arabia

The Yemeni Ansar Allah movement (Houthis) attacked an oil refinery of the Saudi company Aramco in the Jizan region in southern Saudi Arabia with two drones, the movement-controlled SABA agency reports, citing a military source.

“The Yemeni armed forces attacked the Aramco oil refinery in the Jizan region with two drones, the hit was accurate,” the agency quotes the source as saying.

According to the agency, the attack was a response to Saudi Arabia's violation of Yemen's airspace and sovereignty in the provinces of Saada and Hajjah. The agency's source added that Houthi forces will continue to respond to any, as he put it, violations of Yemen's sovereignty and attacks on the country.

Over the past week, the Houthis have stepped up attacks, targeting Yemen's internationally recognized government positions in Marib, the port of Moha, facilities in the Saudi Arabian Najran and Jizan, and a ship in the Bab al-Mandeb Strait. A new round of escalation began on July 13 after an attack on the runway of Sanaa airport in order to prevent the landing of a plane arriving from Iran. The Houthis blamed Saudi Arabia for the attack and then resumed attacks on the kingdom's territory.
